The planned I-93 project, beginning in neighboring Salem at the Massachusetts state line and extending northerly nineteen (19) miles to the intersection of I-293 in Manchester, involves the widening and reconstruction of the highway from two (2) to four (4) lanes north and southbound. Effecting the communities of Salem, Windham, Derry, Londonderry, and Manchester, the project will also involve the realignment or reconstruction of the following five (5) interchanges: Exit 1 (Rockingham Park), Exit 2 (Pelham Road), Exit 3 (NH Route 111 Windham), Exit 4 (NH Route 102), and Exit 5 (NH Route 28). As of May, the plans were updated to include the relocation of a short section of Route 111 in Windham off of its existing alignment and away from Cobbett's Pond. As part of this move, the State would relinquish control of the present section of Route 111 in the area of Castleton to the Town.
